HOPE IS A GOOD THING!

HOPE, a four-letter word, which for most people doesn't mean much. Hope can be something that can be the difference between an ordinary life and an amazing life which we all want. But let's dig deep, and investigate what is hope? What does it mean for us? What does it make us do? And why we have to hope.

Our brain is a complex machine. You might have heard this countless times that our brain does what we feed it every single day. That means that if you wake up every day thinking that your life is miserable, that you are a failure, that you can't change, then it is absolutely certain that your life is never going to change. But the people who keep telling themselves that they are going to get through it, that things will certainly change, those are the people who work for that change and really change their life.

But saying all these things is quite easy rather than really applying all these things in real life.

We find ourselves surrounded by so many problems, obstacles that always hurt us, make us fall every single time we set out to cross it. When our life gets so hard that we are not able to find motivation in anything that we do, then how can someone still tell themselves that things are gonna be okay? How can someone lie to themselves when they know the real situation? Can you still hope for the best when every dream you had just seems impossible and you feel so lost that you can't continue chasing those dreams?

When someone finds them in this situation, they have 2 options - one, to stop chasing your dream, settle for something else, compromise with your dreams. Second, to fight for it, to hope for it to happen, to make sure that you don't spend your life in regret of not trying your best. This is a situation that really tells us what kind of a person we are in life. And I am sure that the majority of the population will choose to compromise with their dreams because it is easier to let go than holding something which hurts us every single day. Most people take the easy route, not because they want to, but because they lost hope of their dreams to become a reality.

Why do people quit? Because of the lack of hope. We hear success stories about how people came out on top regardless of the situation, but never know what the person did when all the hope was lost and when everything seemed to fall down. They pushed through that situation, they did not lose the hope of success, the hope of seeing their dreams in front of them. I always think that the only person who can ruin my own future is me. And if we are determined to make sure that we won't stop until we have made it, there would be nothing holding us back. Everything is upon us, the choice of the kind of person we want to be, the choice of whether we want to look ourselves in the mirror and regret not trying all our lives, or look ourselves in the mirror and be proud of the effort we did regardless of how the situation was.

Here is a recommendation, if you ever feel like you are losing hope in your dreams, do watch the movie Shawshank Redemption. The movie has a dialogue in the end, "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And a good thing never dies".This dialogue has placed itself in my heart forever. We need to make a promise with ourselves, that we are not going to lose hope regardless of how bad the situation becomes, regardless of how many times we have failed, because if we have a belief in ourselves, we can achieve the impossible. All it needs is hope. After giving your best, you can face yourself in the mirror and say, "I did everything I could, maybe more than I ever imagined to do. I didn't lose hope regardless of what the situations were and I never gave up".

So all I can say to you is just this - I hope that you get through the tough time you are having. I hope that you will follow your dreams regardless of how big and absurd they may sound right now. I hope that you will hold onto the things which are close to you and don't let them go easily. I hope that one day you look back in your life and be proud of yourself to have made it. I hope you will remember my words whenever you are losing hope. I hope!
